On today’s episode, Know Your Role(s) welcomes bassoonist, educator, performer, and all around badass Rebekah Heller to the pod! On tap in this week’s Bar Talk are the 2021 Olympics, the “2020” UEFA European Championship, and a segment called Weekly Reads and Record Sleeves, where George and Dave chat about new books and vinyl they’re enjoying. An active traveler and educator, Rebekah talks about the pandemic’s effect on artists and the need for a social safety net in the US, her musical career and newfound enthusiasm for teaching, the power of one on one performance, and her love of cycling. This week’s game is a real trip, as Rebekah and the guys explore relationships between instruments and destinations, from the bold brass bands of NOLA to the wild and wonderful world of theramins in Iceland! Dave gets excited for the NBA finals and Janicza Bravo’s “Zola,” while George looks ahead to the July 11th premiere of “The White Lotus” on HBOMax.
